the rule

By jamesaguiar - Posted on 15 March 2014

a definition of naïve
that I believe
to be fact
precise, exact
is to conceive the notion
that inane commotion
that surrounds
and abounds
in the everyday
somehow exacts a price to pay.
that I should pay heed
to trivial need
of anyone who has never shown
any thought to wants of my own.
this is a form of inanity
that touches on less than sanity
to care for those
whose lives impose
an unworthy cost
this is more than loss
it's playing the fool
the reversal of the golden rule
it's time to close that book
not give it another look
