To Mother From a Long Dead Son

By jamesaguiar - Posted on 17 January 2010

when, i, clamoring from the depths
could hear only the sounds of my echoless screams,
you heard.
when my soul seemed to sift through my fingers
like so much chafe,
you held fast.
when my tormented heart screamed in anguish,
you comforted.
when all else disparaged and disdained,
you believed.
when again, and again, I failed miserably,
you still loved.
for all these and much more, sainted mother
(if you are not, there are none other),
the boundless thanks of a long-dead son
and kindred soul.
