death in its kind

the end
against which we cannot defend
is the loss of heart
not one's own
but of the other
when nearness has fled
the smoldering flame, at last smothered
unleashing the final dread
two souls together dead
we cannot run nor hide
from the loss of the ones
whose love was won
by calculation and expertise
releasing at long last
the final news: all, was to tease
giving final release
to honest sense
no need to repent
for all was spent
in a burst of mirth
the simple irony, it's girth
here, there everywhere
Do I dare?
it's all a lie
oh me, and my
at long last I don't care.
time can be spent anywhere.
with panache and flair
the cost measured in its own worth:
to me
you see?
