You are hereSandals

he walked in those sandals a moment ago.
he said goodbye to his mother though.
he came here to rant, to rave.
no one here could his life save.
he ended, cutshort by a bullet's caprice,
and the relentless anger of violence in streets.
his mother will never more know his face.
soon he will vanish without a trace.
inevitably he'll return to dust,
even as we all must.
would he have grown
would he have known
that answers in anger are never found
that corpses interred in the ground,
against injustice never utter a sound,
and that all the effort expended for good,
must forever be understood
as unreachable truth high over our heads
never to be realized by the dead?
