Migration

By jamesaguiar - Posted on 19 December 2018

Intent like egg shells
Beneath the feet
Crack, and swell
With a cacophonous beat
Never rendering what is meant
By the insidious crackling-
A baffling
Blend of pained sense, consent-

We know that Humpty is our kin
And on his bones we commit our sin
His mangling
Remnants
Dependents
Of our best plans and goals
Each snap beneath keeps him un-whole
Separating always from his soul.

It’s not shoulders on which we stand
But, rather, what is left of shifting sands
Once Humpty’s
Then Dumpty’s
Pulverized demise

We never learn from this simple surmise.
